Brain Integration Technique (BIT) is an alternative medicine technique that aims to optimize brain function and emotional regulation. It utilizes concepts from bioenergetic kinesiology, acupressure, neurology, and other modalities to improve communication between different areas of the brain in order to improve mental tasks such a, learning, memory, emotional regulation and general well-being.
This article discusses how BIT is different than other bioenergetic kinesiology techniques, what the protocol addresses, and describes the specific phases of BIT protocol.
BIT is a Specialized Practice of Bioenergetic Kinesiology
In addition to BIT, there are many styles of kinesiology including, Applied Kinesiology, Touch for Health, Body Talk, Stress Indicator Point System (SIPS), etc. While approaches vary greatly among different practitioners and schools, most address a wide variety of physical and emotional concerns, and overall well-being. Sessions typically address either issues the client expresses or issues found by muscle test. Clients may schedule sessions regularly, or as they feel the need.
BIT is a specialized subtype of kinesiology that is designed to focus on the enhancement of brain communication and function. While other types of kinesiology are more free-form and fluid, BIT follows a specific protocol of cognitive assessment, corrections, and functional applications. The protocol ensures that all brain areas and major cognitive functions are thoroughly addressed. Because the steps are progressive, its completion is essential for optimal results. Like many alternative medicine modalities, its goal is to support your body’s innate ability to heal and optimize itself– and this does not happen in just one or two hours.
The BIT Protocol Systematically Addresses Many Areas of the Brain
The protocol addresses the major brain connections in a hierarchical order. We address the major pathway groups first, the limbic system next, and then other areas of the brain. This allows us to systematically:
address 20 different brain connections/areas and functions
ensure major brain connections are functioning at the most basic level
address how the limbic system is interacting with other parts of your brain and body
optimize how various areas communicate with each other, specifically the right and left hemispheres
correct glitchy eye movements, audio-visual integration and proprioception so that sensory input is being processed correctly
correct “glitches” that show up during challenging mental tasks such as reading, memory recall, visio-spatial activities, math calculations, etc.
neutralize stressors that cause the brain to “shut down” or “go blank”
address subconscious emotions and responses that may be affecting how the brain work
The Emotional Connection
How we feel about things on a conscious and subconscious level GREATLY affects how our brains function. The BIT protocol addresses emotions and fears attached to various aspects of our lives in order to reduce the influence that they have. The goal is to decrease anxiety, improve emotional regulation, increase motivation, reduce self sabotage and impulsive behaviors, eliminate fears and emotional hang-ups that get in the way of achieving goals.
To do this we systematically balance potentially emotional stressors such as: school, learning, work, relationships, self, God, future, fear or failure/success, etc. Like the rest of the BIT protocol, resolving these emotional ties involves using acupoint holds to balance the brain activity initiated by a specific emotional stressor. This is not counseling and it is not necessary to fully discuss these sensitive issues.
It is very important that clients understand that the BIT protocol is not a one-session quick fix. Completion of the ENTIRE protocol is absolutely necessary to achieve full and lasting results. Each phase of the protocol builds on the phases before it, and some of the most significant parts are at the end.

BIT is Not Appropriate For Everyone
While BIT can make great improvements across many areas, it is not a magic bullet. It is important to have realistic expectations and may not be the best option for everyone.
BIT is an alternative therapy with focus on basic neurology and cognition. It is important to recognize that BIT is NOT mental health care, nor is it a replacement for such. It is not therapy, counseling or a medical intervention.
I am not a physician, counselor, therapist, or nutritionist. I frequently recommend that my clients seek out such professionals when appropriate.
Poor gut health is often a contributor to poor mental function and brain fog. There are times when it is more appropriate to address your issues from a nutrition standpoint.
While BIT can help significantly reduce anxiety, it is NOT designed to address serious mental illness or deep depression.
I have found BIT to be less effective when people have an emotional connection to their expressed issue, such as chronic pain or life-long learning difficulties. Additional health care or alternative modalities may be appropriate.
Summary
BIT is a wonderful alternative medicine modality that has greatly impacted many lives. By systematically working through all the phases of the Brain Integration Technique protocol we ensure that your conscious mind and your subconscious mind are communicating, that your subconscious mind can access all areas of your brain, and that they can both perform the various functions that are required to succeed in school, work, relationships, and life.
